The owner's Honcho client, blocking, with TLS: default features off,
feature tls. It adds only itself to the lock file (checksum a5ccccc2…,
as checked against crates.io in review). cargo deny passes. The
dependency and the egress to rift are documented; the egress table also
lists the design model's probe of rift in a throwaway workspace.

Found in the M5b device check on straylight: the self-test asked about
each of the 33 tags and each neutralised form, 66 requests, one
connection each, and inferproxy's token bucket (burst 10) refused the
ninth, so loopd would not start. Now it asks about all the tags at once,
one per line, and then all their neutralised forms: the answer to the
first must hold each tag's recorded token in order, the second none of
them. Each tag is a special token, split out before anything else, so
the lines between cannot change it; and a neutralised form is only
dangerous as a tag's own token, so that is what the second answer must
not hold. The errors name a tag by its id, as before.
The fake tokenizer reads text with several tags in it; the tests cover
each tag as ordinary tokens, as another listed or unlisted token, a
duplicated token in the middle and at the end, a form holding each tag,
and both requests failing. Spec section 8 and the runbook entry follow.

M5b review, findings 3 and 4: the instruction comments tasks 03 and 04
left inside filled bodies, and a space of indent task 11 added to four
lines of bxctl's usage text. No behaviour changes.

M5b review, findings 1 and 2. url_len ended a clean reply's URL at any
`<` outside parentheses, not at a `<` before white space, a bracket,
`<`, `>` or the end; closes used a count of characters as a byte
offset, so a closer indented with a no-break space did not close its
fence. Both bodies, and fence_end's (an index replaced by `get`), are
the reference's again. tests/links_review.rs pins both cases with the
reference's output.

Text from outside the model (the user's message, every tool result, and the
memory block) is neutralised the moment it is first logged, so every later
request replays the same bytes and a tag in that text cannot reach the model as
one of its own control tokens. The model's own output, replay, and the system
prompt are left byte-for-byte.

Done the way the owner asked and the spike mapped: the crate and the
manifests renamed, then what the build reported fixed. Layers: 138
"proto unresolved" errors across 169 files; cargo fmt reordering
imports; six fixture paths built as strings in brokerd's and bxctl's
tests, which the compiler cannot see, and comments naming
crates/proto/; the crate-dependency check and its self-test. One more
the spike did not reach: a `\nproto =` key inside a printf format in
the self-test, which a word-boundary replacement skips because `n` and
`p` are both word characters.
make gate: gate: ok, 944 tests; no new entry in /tmp.

About 10,000 test leftovers had built up in titan's /tmp. loopd's Home
and FakeServer, its fake broker's socket, bxctl's temp sockets, fake
loopd and command homes, inferproxy's socket, and a few brokerd and
toolkit tests created uniquely named directories or sockets and never
removed them, or removed them by hand at the end, which a failing test
skips. Each is now a guard removed on drop (bxctl gains
tests/support/temp.rs). Two races also left gatewayd homes behind: the
test Running only signalled its server to stop, and two Stage structs
declared the home first, so it was removed while the server could still
write into it. Running's drop now waits for the thread (with a 5-second
limit), and every home is declared last.
Checked: make gate twice, then the gate and three rounds of gatewayd and
loopd tests; no new entry in /tmp; 944 tests pass.

M5a task 21. The work is Ornith's, from the stopped run; the design
model checked it against the task file and committed it after finding
that the gate's failure came from its own reference worktree's stale
test binaries in the shared target/ (fixed with cargo clean; 944 tests).

The fake wrote each argument with its own printf. On a loaded machine
(titan, serving Ornith while the gate runs) the 300 ms limit fired while
`run` was still recording, and the `kill` call's lines landed inside
`run`'s: `a_tool_past_its_time_limit_is_killed_removed_and_failed`
failed about one run in five. The fake now writes each call to a file of
its own and appends it with one `cat` (bash's printf writes line by
line), and the two time-limit tests check the calls other than `run`,
which may be killed before it records itself. Test-only; 20 of 20 runs
pass, and both tests pass with a forced one-second start.

M5a task 16. The work is Ornith's, from the stopped run; the design
model checked it against the task file and committed it once the
memoryd lint that stopped the gate was fixed (44bdcbd).

Clippy 1.95's collapsible_match flags the nested `if` in the
`LogRecord::User` arm of `index_record`, and the workspace pins
rust-version 1.95, so `make gate` failed on titan. An empty user message
now falls to the `_ => {}` arm, which indexes nothing, as before.

The session did the task and stopped on make verify-device. The cause
was not the server: run-plan.sh and the device tests both read
BOXMAKER_MODEL, and the run's value (OpenCode's provider-prefixed id)
reached llama-server as the model name. With it unset, verify-device
passes 6 of 6. The copied files are identical to the plan's, and the
gate prints gate: ok, 936 tests.

nobody_else_and_nothing_else_answers_it read five replies after
waiting only for the first, so it failed whenever the other four were
not posted yet. It failed once in a full `make gate` run, when many
test binaries ran at once. The helper now waits for as many posts as
the test reads.
The M4b plan's copy is left as it was handed over.

The two posts caught up at restart are two top-level posts, so two
sessions, and their turns run on their own threads. gatewayd starts
them in order, but which one reaches loopd first is up to the
scheduler. Under load the test failed about 1 run in 60; task 18's
session hit it once. mm_json.rs already checks the order of catch-up
(reversing the sort fails there), so this test now compares the two
turns as a set. It passed 100 of 100 runs under load.
The M4a plan's copy is left as it was handed over.
